Medications

Medications are very important and helpful part of spine-related pain conservative treatment.

The goal when prescribing medication to spine-related pain is to improve the condition, reduce pain and discomfort, encourage compliance and minimize the risk of abuse of the medications. Often, antidepressant medications are used in small doses to increase the pain threshold, and reduce sleep disturbances that are a result of severe pain.

Three major types of medications, acetaminophen, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and muscles relaxants, are commonly recommended to relive spine-related pain. These medications group work differently and therefore may be taken at the same time.
